Wow!! I must admit I am a little disappointed that this site has decided to open a shooting range of votes on above-stated “Lousy Tattoos” with the tag line, “What could be more fun than putting down other people’s lousy ink!”

I understand the desire to bring a high level of professionalism to the industry, but is this really the way to do it! Lets just make fun of people and maybe they’ll go away? While your at it lets post pics of people you think need to lose weight or dress better and make fun of them until they do! Seems to do more to take credit away the from the professional Tattoo Artist and this site. Shops open and close daily so lets just do our Job well and let the work speak for itself !

Sorry, Anonymous. We were attempting to be ironic (perhaps you didn’t see the heading “Humor,” at the top of the page). Reflecting on your astute comments, however, there is some truth in the fact that, behind closed doors, SOME artists enjoy putting down other artists. We remember, over the years, long and detailed diatribes by new-to-the-business, young, self-involved tattoo artists who put down, quite vocally, the likes of Don Ed Hardy, Sailor Jerry Collins and others whom they considered “out-dated,” “talentless” and “unimaginative.” Why they do this is best left to their therapists… but as for me, I was attempting to make a joke, to add a chuckle to a collection of tattoo work that isn’t really very funny… especially considering there are so-called professionals out there charging money for this kind of ill-advised, technically mediocre and, in one case, misspelled tattoo work (although I do kind of like the “Tramp Stamp” one). Also let me point out that, unless someone alerts potential tattoo customers about the difference between good and bad ink (in this case, by humor), there’s going to continue to be a lot more people walking around with tattoos like the ones shown here. There’s said to be over a quarter of a million “tattoo artists” in the U.S. alone… and, regardless of what the friends they tattoo for free or the groupies who think they are “the greatest artists in the world” may say, not all of them are good at what they do.

Actually I seen the heading ” Humor” which doesn’t change anything saying this is funny then calling people to vote on the worst tattoo is still the same !

There is no Irony in this just bad taste! and a clear picture of what you think of the tattoos posted. Also there is no way to know the intent of the tattoos and as we do not know the professionalism of the environment they were done in.

In the eye of the beholder comes to mind as you have represented several different styles of art on this site showing that tattooing is a true art form of taste. Good on you! again that is why I was surprised to see you decided to choose to move into this area. In your own words you continued to add to the pile with….

“I was attempting to make a joke, to add a chuckle to a collection of tattoo work that isn’t really very funny… especially considering there are so-called professionals out there charging money for THIS KIND of ill-advised, technically mediocre and, in one case, misspelled tattoo work (although I do kind if like the “Tramp Stamp” one) “

If anything, I think posts like these bring an awareness to people wanting to get tattooed. Do your research or you could end up with a horrid tattoo! I’ll admit not all of them are horrible quality, more wtf-worthy.

I’m with the first person expressing concern. I come here because Bob is suppose to be a classy representative of the industry, not posting pics slamming other artists work, no matter what your personal opinion is about their quality.

I’m sorry but all this is just in bad taste!

How about you post some pics of tats YOU’VE done Mr.Baxter.

Jesus Christ! If #6, #13, or #15 doesn’t make you weep there is something wrong with you. Those are some seriously bad tattoos!

It seems that no one is saying that most don’t deserve the title worst tattoos. Just that this may be a distasteful way to educate others on the proper etiquette of critiquing tattoo art. To line up some pics and call others to mock them. Also that odd or outside the box art does not deserve to be classed this way. It’s closed minded and stunts the creativity of the art! And Bob I appologize that this has opened a personal attack from others as it is counterproductive to the point. You are and will always be seen as a icon to the industry “respect.”
