    A note on UV inks.
These pigments are made by infusing plastic (perspex) with a fluorescent dye, and then grinding the plastic to a fine powder (pigment) The dyes are water soluble so once the plastic starts to degrade due to UV degradation, 10 years or so, the dye is released and absorbed into the body leaving a brittle plastic powder under the skin. They were originally developed as a marker dye for fish. Fish have a shorter life span then people so it is not an issue (for fish!) They are marketed as being FDA approved but they do not tell you that it is only approved for marking fish and not for tattooing humans.

the ink that was used in my black lite tattoos was made in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. i did quite a bit of reasearch on them before i had it put in my face. Canada has much stricter rules and regulations than the U.S. these inks were used for marking batches in meat packing plants, and had to pass heavy regulations for human consumtion i have neverhad any issues with these tattoos and they are now over 12 years old…but thanx for the heads up on some of nthe UV inks out there!!!
